The arguments regarding Mississippi’s abortion law scheduled for December 1.
There has been considerable speculation that the United States Supreme Court would issue an opinion on Monday on the Texas abortion law. But no Monday opinion was forthcoming.
It has been almost three weeks since the nation’s high court chose to hear arguments over Texas Senate Bill 8, the so-called Heartbeat Act. Many consider it one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the U.S. today. The law went into effect in September when the Supreme Court denied a petition to block its enforcement.
With Thanksgiving approaching, Monday would be the last day the court can decide on Texas cases before they hear more arguments about abortion. A case over Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban is set to be heard on December 1.
